The elusive Arctic Char - found in
abundance at Diana Lake
Diana Lake Lodge is located forty miles northwest of Kuujjuaq, Quebec
(formerly Fort Chimo, the Hudson Bay Company established its first trading post in North
America here in 1830). The lodge is on a lake and river system sixty five miles long
that makes its way to Ungava Bay where endless sea-run Arctic Char lay in icy, clear
water. The water system is filled with rocky pockets and clear shorelines. Besides trophy
fishing for arctic char, brook trout and huge lake trout, Diana Lake Lodge also offers
world class and record book caribou, bear and the best ptarmigan hunting in the Arctic.
The Lodge at Diana Lake sits high on a treeless knoll with majestic
views. This lodge offers a quaint dining room, spacious living room, screened porch and
deck, and full kitchen to serve guests full meals. To see pictures of the lodge, click here.
Sports writer and angler Bob McNally considers Diana Lake as "one of the greatest
places to fish for brook trout." After a trip to the Lodge in August 1998, Bob had
this to say:
Late last August I worked Diana Lake for a week, and never have I landed so many big
stream brook trout on dry flies. One bright, warm day I lost count of how many fish I
caught and released, but it was well over 100, with most weighing an honest one to four
pounds. There were so many big brook trout, so greedily striking any dry fly I threw, that
I tied on the largest Wulff and greased-Muddler patterns in my fly box to avoid the two
pounders and hook only the threes and fours . . . . without question, the most fun
Ive ever had fishing for giant brook trout -- anywhere, anytime."
